Andrea Ballinger serves as LSU’s Associate Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Ms. Ballinger’s responsibilities include providing leadership, vision, and direction to the university’s investment, deployment, and strategic use of information technology resources across the multi-campuses. Her areas of oversight encompass information systems, networking and infrastructure, cyber-security and risk, user support, academic computing, high performance computing, as well as Board of Regents sponsored initiatives LONI and LOUIS.
Immediately prior to her March 2017 appointment as LSU’s AVP/CTO, Ms. Ballinger served as Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer/Chief Information Officer and Interim President for the University of Illinois Alumni Association. She spent two decades as an IT leader in higher education working at both the University of Illinois and Illinois State University. She began in academic computing at the Urbana-Champaign campus then at the System level as the Assistant Vice President for Decision Support at the University of Illinois. She then served as Associate Vice President for Administrative Technologies and later as the Chief Technology Officer at Illinois State University. She also has a decade of experience in the financial sector.
Ms. Ballinger’s background demonstrates her expertise in building enterprise level solutions to meet university needs through the establishment of formal IT enterprise architectures including implementing ERPs, enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence environments. She’s an active member of The Data Warehousing Institute and a founding member of the Higher Education Data Warehousing Forum.
Ms. Ballinger holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
