Critical Illness Protection
There will not be a premium increase or plan design change for the 2017 plan year. Critical Illness Protection Plan from UnitedHealthcare provides you with a lump-sum benefit that can help you pay medical expenses, offset lost income for you or your spouse or just help with everyday living expenses. Employees have the ability to enroll in this plan during Annual Enrollment without medical underwriting. If you currently have the Critical Illness Protection Plan, please remember to file for your wellness cash benefit.
What is Covered?
- Carcinoma in situ*
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Ruptured Aneurysm
- Coronary artery bypass (25%)
- Chronic renal failure
- Major organ failure
- Severe burns
- Severe brain damage

Critical Illness Protection premiums are based on age-banded rates.
- Premiums are deducted post-tax
- Deductions are made the month prior to coverage effective date
- Effective date is 1st of the month following a full month of employment
Guarantee Issue Limits*
Employee: $10,000 or $20,000
Spouse: $5,000 or $10,000
*If you purchase coverage for yourself, you may buy coverage for your eligible dependents.
