Phase one of LSU’s Strategic Plan 2025 concluded in 2016 after months of input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and business leaders. Approximately 200 people participated in face-to-face focus groups and more than 2,100 members of our campus community completed an on-line survey.

These individuals will be recognized at an awards presentation and reception on Wendesday, May 3, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., in the Noland Laborde Room of the Lod Cook Alumni Center. The Office of Academic Affairs met with Dr. Barry Keim, LSU Professor and Louisiana State Climatologist, to discuss his involvement with tracking the “no-name storm” that progressed into the historic 2016 Louisiana Flood.
In the fall of 2016 the LSU Center for French and Francophone Studies and the Université des Antilles were awarded a $235,000 grant by the Partner University Fund (cultural services of the French embassy in the United States), the FACE Foundation (French American Cultural Exchange, New York) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This funding was used to host an international colloquium at LSU in November 2016 entitled "Louisiana/French Antilles: A Shared Space Time" and to establish a graduate student exchange between LSU and the Université des Antilles.
Chevron, through its University Partnership Program, generously donated $850,000 to the LSU Foundation in support of 34 individual units across campus, including the E.J. Ourso College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Science, Student Life and 15 student organizations.

In addition to strategic planning subcommittees meeting regularly, the LSU strategic planning committee encourages members of the LSU community to attend a series of Town Hall meetings scheduled in the upcoming months to discuss an overview of the process and an update on the plan as well as to receive feedback from faculty, students and staff in attendance.
Nomination packets for LSU’s 2017 university faculty awards are due Friday, Feb. 17 from each dean’s office.
At two recent meetings on higher education in Louisiana, the phrase “our new reality” was used to describe our state.
After input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, community leaders and key stakeholders, the strategic planning committee identified five Strategic Themes that will form the core of the plan. These themes include the areas of Economic Innovation, Transforming Education, Energy and the Environment, Advancing Arts & Culture, and Improving Health & Well Being.
